                                                                      The ones in this collection can. They are made from brushed or lighter-weight wool felt with a soft turned brim, which lets them fold and spring back. A stiff sewn brim will hold the crease instead.

                                                                      The brim and the weight of the felt. A soft turned brim with no wire in it, in a lighter brushed felt, will fold and recover. Weight and stiffness are what stop a felt hat from packing, not the wool itself.
                                                                      How do you pack a felt hat in a suitcase?
                                                                      Fold it along the crease of the crown, lay it flat near the top of the case, and pack soft clothing around it rather than on top of it. Reshape the crown by hand when you arrive and it will settle within an hour.
